Intro
—A font is a software. When you ‘buy a font’, what you’re buying is, actually, a license that allows you to use the software under predefined terms and conditions — just like when you download an app on your phone.
Every foundry tries, within reason, to simplify their licensing terms in order to meet their client’s demands, and Typeóca is no exception. However, licensing is a practice that is not familiar to everyone.
If you’re interest using one or more of Typeóca’s fonts, you should take a look at our standard licensing agreement, linked right bellow.
Long story short
—Any person or business using a Typeóca font needs a license that covers its usage. The value to be paid for the license varies according to / 1 / the fonts and / 2 / the size of the company for which the font is being licensed to.
After acquiring a license, the font can be used for multiple different purposes / print, website, social media, etc. /, for an unlimited time, in an unlimited number of devices.
The main restrictions imposed by the licensing terms are that / 1 / the fonts cannot be shared with third parties, either suppliers or service providers, and / 2 / for usage on logos, a license must be acquired by the copyright holder / even if the font is used only in outlines, and even if it has been modified /.
If you need a license that allows you to share the fonts with third parties / such as freelancers, agencies, production companies /, to use for a short period of time / such as events or campaigns /, or any other adjustment in our standard terms, feel free to contact us, and we’ll craft a custom license that better suits your needs.
Test Fonts
—If you want to make sure our fonts fit your projects / or your clients expectations / before acquiring a license, we offer test fonts for free — all you have to do is ask for them via email. Typeóca’s Test Fonts come with every glyph and opentype resource, so that you can test everything they have to offer.
Basically, the only difference between the ‘oficial’ fonts and the ‘test’ fonts are their licensing agreement and the name of the file.
Discount policy
—Typeóca offers 30% discount on licenses for / 1 / black and / 2 / trans individuals, as well as / 3 / grad students / discounts are non-cumulative /. In order to get a discount voucher, all you have to do is send us an email with the request and some form of proof that you meet the requirements.
